A group of students in Khulna held a torch procession to protest the observance of Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s death anniversary at the National Press Club in Dhaka. The students strongly condemned the event, which took place on Wednesday.
On Friday night (September 13), the procession, organized under the banner of "Ordinary Students of Khulna," moved through the city. The protest concluded with a short rally at the Shivbari intersection.
During the rally, the students expressed their outrage, stating, "A mourning meeting was organized at the National Press Club in Dhaka to commemorate the death anniversary of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founding father of Pakistan. This event has deeply disturbed ordinary students. We want to make it clear that the mass uprising of '24 was not done to undermine the spirit of '52 and '71. It was to eradicate all forms of discrimination from the state. The spirit of '52 and '71 must not be diluted in any way. Observing Jinnah’s death anniversary in a free Bangladesh is an affront to the values of our Liberation War, and this must stop immediately."
Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s 76th death anniversary was observed at the National Press Club last Wednesday, sparking widespread criticism across the country.
